Care Summary
The Peacock Worm is a graceful fan worm that extends a stunning spiral crown of feathery radioles in iridescent bands of brown, cream, and purple, and it's one of the easiest filter feeders to keep in a reef. Anchor its tube securely between rocks or partially in the substrate, keep it out of the direct blast of powerheads, and it will coexist peacefully with virtually all reef inhabitants. The crown retracts instantly when startled, which is normal behavior, but chronic retraction from persistent harassment by fish like hawkfish or wrasses will stress it and cause it to waste away. Feed it phytoplankton or a quality filter feeder blend two to three times per week, and it will reward you with reliable daily extension once it feels settled.
