Radiant Urchin

The Radiant Urchin is a large, show-stopping Indo-Pacific species with long iridescent spines banded in red, white, and blue that catch the light beautifully in a well-lit display tank. It needs a spacious tank with open substrate to roam and graze, and it is reef safe in that it won't bother corals, though its size means it can physically knock over frags if they're placed too low. This species grows quite large and needs a corresponding amount of food, so make sure your tank has a steady supply of algae or be ready to supplement regularly with seaweed sheets. Handle with care as the spines, while not venomous, are long enough to cause significant discomfort and can puncture skin easily during tank maintenance.
