Care Summary
The Sally Lightfoot Crab is a fast-moving, athletic scavenger with striking red and yellow coloration that earns it a place in FOWLR and larger reef systems as an active detritus cleaner. It is not considered reliably reef-safe; larger specimens are known to pick at soft corals, fan worms, and slow-moving invertebrates, and its speed makes it difficult to remove once it decides to cause problems. Juveniles are generally more reef-compatible than adults, so if you want to try one in a mixed reef, start small and have a plan to relocate it as it grows. Feed meaty foods, algae, and omnivore-formulated pellets several times per week; a well-fed Sally Lightfoot is significantly less likely to turn its attention toward your corals and tankmates.
