Care Summary

The Sea Apple is one of the most visually striking sea cucumbers in the hobby, with its vivid red, yellow, and purple body making it a showpiece for experienced keepers. It needs a mature, well-established reef with low to moderate flow and no aggressive tankmates, as stress or injury can trigger it to release toxins that wipe out an entire system. The biggest challenge is keeping it alive without poisoning the tank, so make sure you have activated carbon running and a plan to remove the animal immediately if it starts to evert its organs. Feed it several times a week by broadcasting fine phytoplankton or reef rotifers into the water column near where it tends to perch and feed.
