Turbo Snails are powerhouse algae grazers, one of the best options on the market for tackling heavy hair algae and green film algae in reef tanks. They grow large, often reaching two inches or more, so give them a tank of at least 30 gallons with open rockwork and glass panels to patrol, and note that their size means they can knock over frags and unsecured corals. Turbo Snails come from cooler Pacific waters and can struggle in tanks that stay above 78 degrees, making temperature control a legitimate concern in warmer setups. They are voracious grazers and typically feed themselves in tanks with moderate algae growth, but watch body condition and supplement with dried algae if the tank runs lean.
