Care Summary
Acropora verweyi is a digitate cluster species with short, thick branches, forming a sturdy, compact colony rather than a delicate thicket. In aquaculture it typically shows blue-purple tips over a yellow-green body, a cheerful contrast under strong light. Growth is moderate, and for a high-light Acropora it is among the more forgiving, though it still demands proper SPS conditions.
Care
Keep it in a mature, stable SPS system, as with all Acropora. Alkalinity stability matters above all else — hold a steady target, and keep calcium and magnesium consistent alongside it. Provide high light around PAR 250–400, ramping new frags up gradually, and strong random flow that reaches between the short branches rather than a constant jet on one face. Compact digitate colonies can collect debris at the centre, so through-flow matters. An encrusting base, bright tips and regular polyp extension are the signs of a colony doing well; its relative hardiness is a margin, not a licence for unstable parameters.
Placement and growth
A top placement suits its light and flow needs. Give it at least 2 in of clearance from neighbouring corals on all sides, with room for the cluster to thicken and spread. Mount it firmly on a stable surface, let it encrust before judging progress, and avoid repeated moves once it has based out.
