BC Greg C Efflo
Acropora sp.
Recommended from the shop
Care Summary
BC Greg C Efflo is a Battlecorals Acropora strain carrying Greg Carroll lineage, grown in the plating 'efflo' style. Its signature colouring is blue-green across the plate, with the tones shifting between blue and green depending on light and viewing angle. Plating colonies develop a broad, fused form quite unlike a branching acro, and a mature piece becomes a shelf of colour in the upper aquascape.
Care
This is an advanced Acropora for a mature SPS system, with high light and strong, random flow. Flow matters greatly for a plating coral — water needs to sweep across the plate and underneath it. Keep alkalinity stable, calcium and magnesium balanced, and nutrients controlled but present. Test regularly and change parameters slowly. Watch the underside and centre of the plate for early signs of trouble that the top can hide.
Placement and growth
Place it in the middle-to-top zone on an open ledge where it can spread horizontally. Growth is moderate, and the colony will plate outward from a secure mount. It is peaceful, but its shelf will shade anything directly below, so choose its position with that footprint in mind and keep aggressive neighbours out of reach.
Identification notes
In the hobby this strain is often attributed to Acropora efflorescens, but that attribution is unverified. It should be treated as a hobby identification only, and the coral is listed here simply as Acropora sp.
