Bennett Tort
Acropora tortuosa
Recommended from the shop
Care Summary
Bennett Tort is an Acropora tortuosa strain from the Bennett lineage, a tier-three tort that follows the classic tort pattern collectors look for. Its signature colours are a blue body with green corallites, a simpler and cleaner contrast than some of its better-known relatives. For keepers who appreciate the tortuosa form, it offers the familiar dense, upright growth and blue-and-green palette in a less widely discussed line.
Care
Treat this as an advanced coral suited to a mature SPS system. It needs high light and high, strong random flow, with alkalinity stability as the priority parameter. Keep calcium and magnesium steady, test regularly, and make any adjustments gradually. Stable, clean water and a settled routine help protect both colour and tissue health, as torts rarely forgive repeated swings or frequent handling and relocation.
Placement and growth
Position it at the top of the aquascape where it receives the strongest light and movement, and allow room for slow, upright colony growth. Growth is slow, so patience is part of keeping this strain well; early progress is often encrusting and settling rather than obvious height. It is peaceful, but faster SPS neighbours can shade it, so choose a permanent spot with clear space above and around it from the start.
