Blueberry Field
Zoanthus sp.
Also known as: Blueberry Fields
Care Summary
Blueberry Field is a Zoanthus strain with a blue-purple face and a pale centre, the soft contrast giving open colonies the muted, dusty look its name suggests. Blue-toned zoanthids are lighting-sensitive in appearance, and this strain reads more blue under blue-heavy light and more purple under whiter light, with the pale middle constant throughout. It is a Tier 3 collector strain, kept for colour rather than growth speed.
Care
Provide medium lighting and medium flow, placed in the bottom to middle of the tank. Keep flow moving through the mat, nutrients measurable — zoanthids sulk in ultra-clean water — and alkalinity stable. Rated intermediate in difficulty, it benefits from a settled system and from being left in one position while it establishes, rather than being moved in search of better colour.
Keeping and spread
Growth is moderate and mat-forming, spreading by encrusting adjacent rock. Allow about 2 in of clear space so the mat does not smother slower neighbours as it expands, or isolate it on separate rockwork. Aggression is moderate. Frag by cutting the mat between polyps, mounting the cut piece, and giving it moderate light and flow to heal.
