Day Tripper
Zoanthus sp.
Also known as: DayTrippers, Daytrippers
Care Summary
Day Tripper is a Zoanthus strain showing a pink-purple radial face around a white mouth, a soft pastel combination offset by the brightness of the pale centre. The radial pattern gives each polyp a sunburst quality, and a settled colony reads as a wash of pink and purple with white dots at every centre. Listed as a Tier 3 strain, it is a collector-oriented zoanthid grown for its colour blend rather than rapid coverage.
Care
Give it medium lighting and medium flow in the bottom to middle of the tank, with flow passing through the mat to keep the colony clean. Zoanthids need measurable nutrients and will sulk in ultra-clean water, so avoid stripping nitrate and phosphate to zero, and hold alkalinity stable. It is rated intermediate in care difficulty, making tank stability and a proper light acclimation more important than any targeted feeding regime.
Keeping and spread
Expect moderate, mat-forming growth. The colony encrusts outward and, given contact, can smother slower neighbours, so leave about 2 in of space around it and consider isolated placement for long-term control. Aggression is moderate. To frag, slice through the mat between polyps, mount the section on a plug or rock, and allow it to heal under the same moderate light and flow before moving it.
