Butt Kisser
Zoanthus sp.
Also known as: Buttkisser
Care Summary
Butt Kisser is a Zoanthus strain with a pink-purple face dusted in gold speckle, the metallic flecks scattered across the oral disc giving the colony a glittered appearance under blue-heavy light. The base colour sits between pink and purple depending on lighting, while the speckle remains its defining feature. A Tier 3 collector strain, it is grown for pattern and sparkle rather than polyp size.
Care
It needs medium lighting and medium flow in the bottom to middle of the tank. Keep nutrients measurable — zoanthids sulk in ultra-clean water — and alkalinity stable, and ensure flow moves through the mat so debris does not collect between polyps and irritate them closed. Rated intermediate in difficulty, it responds best to steady placement and gradual light acclimation in a settled reef.
Keeping and spread
Growth is moderate and mat-forming, encrusting outward from the original frag. Leave about 2 in of buffer space, since a vigorous mat can smother slower neighbours once it reaches them, and consider an isolated rock for easier control. Aggression is moderate. To frag, cut the mat between polyps with a sharp blade, mount the piece, and allow it to heal in moderate light and flow.
