GC Ultimate Blue Stag

GC Ultimate Blue Stag is a tier-three staghorn Acropora strain from Greg Carroll. Its signature colour is an intense blue across the staghorn form, giving the colony a saturated, monochromatic presence that contrasts well with green and multicolour neighbours. Staghorn strains are grown for their open, antler-like branching, and this one's appeal rests on how strongly that blue carries across the whole structure.

Care

Keep this advanced coral in a mature SPS system with high light and high, strong random flow reaching through the branches. Alkalinity stability is the key discipline, alongside steady calcium and magnesium and consistent water quality. Flow matters structurally as well as nutritionally: good movement through the colony helps keep branches clean and tissue healthy. Avoid sudden changes in light or parameters, which can dull the intense blue and slow growth.

Placement and growth

Place it at the top of the aquascape in bright, direct light and turbulent flow, with generous vertical and lateral space for antler-like growth. Growth is moderate once established, and a settled staghorn can occupy considerable room. It is peaceful, so neighbours are a shading and crowding concern rather than an aggression concern. Choose a permanent position early and prune surrounding growth before it blocks light to the lower branches.
