Green People Eater
Zoanthus gigantus
Also known as: GPE; Zoanthus gigantus (People Eater)
Care Summary
Green People Eater is a People Eater zoanthid with a green face around a green mouth, a true monochrome polyp where texture and size do the work that contrast does in other strains. People Eaters are Zoanthus gigantus despite being sold as palys, and that shows in the larger, fleshier polyps compared with typical small zoas. It is a tier 2 strain, prized by People Eater collectors for how purely green the whole face stays.
Care
Place it low to mid-rockwork under medium light with medium flow moving through the mat. It is easy to keep when nutrients are measurable; zoanthids sulk in ultra-clean water, and these larger polyps look best when they are plump and fully open. Keep alkalinity stable and give the colony a settled position. Growth is moderate rather than explosive, so a good spot held consistently will outperform frequent repositioning.
Keeping and spread
Green People Eater spreads by mat growth, adding larger polyps at a moderate pace. Leave about 2 in of space around it: the mat will eventually fill that room, and with moderate aggression it can shade or smother slower neighbours it grows over. To frag, cut the mat carefully between polyps, mount the separated section on a plug or rubble, and let it heal in similar light and flow before moving it on.
