Greg Carroll Ultimate Efflo

Greg Carroll Ultimate Efflo, also listed as GC Ultimate Efflo, is a tier-two table-forming Acropora strain from Greg Carroll, traced in its seed history to an Indonesian import. Its signature colours are a solid blue plating table with green polyps, a clean combination that shows the contrast between the plate surface and the polyps spread across it. Its broad, plating habit separates it from upright staghorn and bottlebrush strains.

Care

This advanced coral needs a mature SPS system with high light and high, strong random flow that moves across and around the plate. Alkalinity stability is essential, with calcium and magnesium held steady and nutrient levels kept consistent. A developing plate can create its own shading and flow shadows, so stable water and strong, varied movement are important. Make lighting and dosing changes gradually and let the colony settle into a routine.

Placement and growth

Its listed placement is middle to top, and it needs a broad, open position with substantial horizontal room for the table to spread. Growth is moderate, but the footprint grows with the plate, so plan well beyond frag size. It is peaceful, yet the plate itself can shade corals beneath it. Give it a permanent site where its eventual width is an asset rather than a problem.

Identification notes

This strain is often attributed in the hobby to the Acropora efflorescens / Acropora solitaryensis complex. That attribution is unverified and is recorded here only as a hobby attribution, not as a confirmed species identification; this entry therefore remains at genus level as Acropora sp.
