ORA Purple Plasma
Acropora sp.
Recommended from the shop
Care Summary
ORA Purple Plasma is a tier-three Acropora strain from ORA built around purple colour with contrast at the polyps. Its signature appearance is a purple body with contrasting polyps, so polyp extension adds a second layer to the colony beyond the branch colour alone. When the polyps are out, the strain reads as more textured and two-toned than a solid purple staghorn or tort.
Care
Keep this advanced coral in a mature SPS system with high light and high, strong random flow. Alkalinity stability is the foundation, with calcium and magnesium held steady and nutrient levels kept consistent. Stable water supports both tissue health and polyp extension, which is part of how this strain shows its contrast. Test regularly, dose evenly and avoid reactive swings in parameters or lighting; gradual, measured changes are the safer route for any named Acropora.
Placement and growth
Place it at the top of the aquascape in bright light and turbulent flow, with room for a moderate-growing colony to branch freely. Growth is moderate after a settling period, so space it for its developed form. It is peaceful, so placement is chiefly about light access and future crowding. A permanent position high in the rockwork, clear of faster neighbours that might shade it, gives the purple body and contrasting polyps the best setting.
