ORA Red Planet
Acropora hyacinthus
Recommended from the shop
Care Summary
ORA Red Planet is a tier-one Acropora hyacinthus strain from ORA and one of the most recognisable table-forming Acropora in the hobby. Its signature colours are a red, table-form body, with a green base and green polyps that can show in lower light. That ability to shift its balance of red and green with lighting gives a colony depth and makes its growth pattern as distinctive as its colour.
Care
Treat this advanced coral as a mature SPS system species needing high light and high, strong random flow across the table surface. Alkalinity stability is critical, supported by steady calcium and magnesium and consistent nutrient levels. Flow should reach across the developing table rather than only at its edges. Stable conditions help maintain the red body colour, while gradual acclimation to strong light is preferable to sudden increases in intensity.
Placement and growth
Place it at the top of the rockwork with broad, open space around it, because a table form needs horizontal room as much as height. Growth is moderate, and a settled colony will extend outward into its characteristic shape. It is peaceful, but its table can shade corals below it, so plan the aquascape accordingly. Give it a permanent, well-lit position and avoid moving it once the table begins to form.
