Pearl Bubble Coral

Physogyra lichtensteini is a pearl bubble coral closely related to Plerogyra. It inflates small pearlescent vesicles during the day to maximize photosynthesis and contracts them at night to reveal feeding tentacles. Like its relative it possesses potent sweeper tentacles that require significant spacing from neighbors.
