Pot of Gold Acanthophyllia
Acanthophyllia sp.
Trade name: Pot of Gold
Pot of Gold Acanthophyllia — a single giant polyp meat coral in solid gold. The farm piece photographed here shows the strain's saturated golden-yellow oral disc ringed by a dark maroon rim, with fine ridges radiating from the central mouth and a thick, folded mantle that puffs well past the skeleton when it is settled.
Care
Moderate reef lighting with gentle, indirect flow. Place on bottom rockwork or the sandbed and leave about 3 inches from neighbors. Keep flow low enough that the flesh never drags or tears against the skeleton. Stable alkalinity and occasional meaty target feeding support tissue health.
