RR Orange Passion
Acropora sp.
Recommended from the shop
Care Summary
RR Orange Passion is a Reef Raft Acropora strain built around a classic high-contrast pairing: vivid orange polyps over a green-blue body. That orange polyp colour is the signature — when the coral is thriving, the polyps glow against the cooler tissue and the growing tips show the combination at its best. It is one of the better-known Passion-line strains and a benchmark many hobbyists measure other orange-polyp acros against.
Care
This is an advanced Acropora for a mature SPS system, not a beginner coral. Provide high light and strong, random flow, and keep alkalinity exceptionally stable, with calcium and magnesium held in balance alongside it. Test routinely, keep nutrients controlled but present, and make any lighting or chemistry changes slowly. Stable conditions over weeks, rather than chasing daily numbers, are what bring out the full orange polyp colour.
Placement and growth
Place it at the top of the aquascape in strong light and flow, mounted securely so it can encrust and then branch at a moderate rate. It is peaceful, but give it elbow room so faster or more aggressive neighbours cannot shade or sting it. Good polyp extension and brightening tips are reliable signs it has settled into its spot.
Identification notes
In the hobby this strain is often attributed to Acropora tenuis, but that attribution is unverified. It is best treated as a hobby identification only, and the coral is listed here simply as Acropora sp.
