Scripps Acro
Acropora microphthalma
Also known as: Scripps Pink
Recommended from the shop
Care Summary
Scripps Acro, also known as Scripps Pink, is a tier-three Acropora microphthalma strain from the Scripps lineage. Its signature colours are a pink, millepora-like body with green polyps, a warm-and-cool contrast that gives the colony a distinctive look. The seed record describes it as millepora-like in appearance, referring to its growth look rather than changing its listed species, which is Acropora microphthalma.
Care
Keep this advanced coral in a mature SPS system with high light and high, strong random flow. Alkalinity stability is central to success, with calcium and magnesium held steady and nutrient levels consistent. Regular testing and even dosing protect both the pink body colour and green polyp contrast. Like other named Acropora, it does best under a settled routine with gradual adjustments only, rather than frequent changes in lighting, flow position or water chemistry.
Placement and growth
Place it at the top of the rockwork in bright light and strong, varied flow, with room for a moderate-growing colony to build its clustered form. Growth is moderate once a frag has encrusted and settled, so plan spacing for its developed size. It is peaceful, so neighbours are mainly a shading concern. Mount it permanently in an open upper position where light reaches the whole colony and faster corals will not grow across it.
