Tyree Icefire Echinata

Tyree Icefire Echinata is a tier-two Acropora strain released as a Steve Tyree Limited Edition line. Its signature colours are a white to ice-coloured bottlebrush body with blue tips, one of the palest palettes in this group and a striking contrast against darker SPS. The blue is concentrated at the branch ends, so healthy new growth shows the strain's defining ice-and-blue combination most clearly.

Care

This advanced, bottlebrush-form coral needs a mature SPS system with high light and high, strong random flow. Alkalinity stability is essential, with calcium and magnesium kept steady and all parameters consistent. Its pale body colour makes stable, clean conditions particularly important, as stress can show quickly in light-toned tissue. Acclimate it carefully, change intensity gradually and avoid unnecessary handling or relocation once it begins to settle and encrust.

Placement and growth

Place it at the top of the aquascape in strong light and turbulent flow, with clear space around the bottlebrush branches. Growth is moderate in the payload record, but a developing colony still needs room and protection from shading. It is peaceful, so the risks are crowding and contact from neighbours rather than aggression from this coral itself. A permanent, open position high in the rockwork, where flow reaches through the branches, suits it best.
