Care Summary
WWC Yellow Austera is a World Wide Corals selection of Acropora austera, a sturdy, thick-branched species. The strain is defined by a fluorescent yellow-green colour that glows under reef lighting — one of the brightest yellows available in an acro, and a colour few other corals can match in the top of a display. Austera types tend to form robust, irregular branches, giving colonies real physical presence as they grow.
Care
Keep it as an advanced Acropora in a mature SPS system, with high light and strong, random flow. Alkalinity stability is essential for holding that fluorescent colour; keep calcium and magnesium consistent too, and maintain nutrients low but present. Yellow and green acros are quick to brown out when nutrients climb or light falls short, so test regularly and correct course gradually rather than making several changes at once.
Placement and growth
It belongs at the top of the aquascape, in peak light and turbulent flow. Growth is moderate, and the thick branches benefit from a very secure mount. The coral is peaceful, but allow it generous room — an austera colony takes up space as it matures, and it should sit clear of stinging neighbours and away from anything that might shade it.
