The Maldives Anemonefish is one of the more specialized clownfish in terms of both geography and host preference, with a wild association tied specifically to Heteractis magnifica anemones. In captivity it adapts to bubble tip anemones in most cases, but hobbyists building accurate Maldivian biotope systems should source Heteractis if possible. The black-tipped ventral and pelvic fins against the orange body give it a clean, distinctive look that sets it apart from the more common clownfish species. Because it is endemic to a small region, wild-caught stock can be sensitive; captive-bred specimens are strongly preferred and increasingly available.
