The Saddleback is consistently overlooked at the fish store in favor of the ocellaris and percula, which is a shame because that distinctive partial-band saddle pattern is completely unique in the family. It associates specifically with Stichodactyla haddoni anemones in the wild, which is a large carpet anemone that requires its own dedicated care and space. Captive-bred examples have been produced successfully by multiple breeders and are more adaptable to a range of host anemones than wild-caught specimens. For a clownfish keeper who wants something different from the standard orange-and-white pair, the Saddleback is the honest recommendation.
