Care Summary

The Scopas Tang is one of the more affordable and underrated tangs; it is reef-safe, hardy, and an excellent algae grazer that handles aquarium conditions better than many more popular species. House it in 75+ gallons with live rock and genuine algae growth; Scopas tangs graze constantly and a tank with no natural algae leaves them nutritionally deficient on prepared foods alone. Feed nori clips and herbivore blends daily; the Scopas shows richer brown and blue coloration when well-fed, and a properly nourished fish is far more disease-resistant than a thin one. It can be assertive with other tangs but is generally one of the less aggressive Zebrasoma species; it mixes reasonably well with dissimilar tang genera and is a solid choice for multi-tang displays.
