Care Summary
The Threadfin Anthias is a beautiful anthias with elongated dorsal fin filaments in the male; it is more delicate than Lyretail or Bartlett's and needs extra care to establish in captivity. Keep a harem of one male to four or more females in 100+ gallons; solo specimens rarely maintain good feeding behavior, and the male's filaments only develop fully with females present. Feed enriched frozen mysis and brine three times daily; threadfin anthias have high metabolisms and are prone to wasting on twice-daily feeding schedules, especially during the stress of initial acclimation. Moderate flow and open swimming space in the upper column suit them; avoid pairing with aggressive or fast-moving fish that will outcompete them at every meal and stress them out of eating.
