Care Summary
The Purple Banded Coral Shrimp is one of the most visually striking cleaner shrimp in the hobby, with bold purple and white banding across its body and long white antennae. It works best in reef tanks of 30 gallons or more and generally stays peaceful with fish, though it may spar with other shrimp of the same species, so keep just one unless the tank is large. The biggest challenge is acclimation: this shrimp is highly sensitive to salinity and pH swings, so drip-acclimate slowly over at least an hour before introducing it to the display tank. Feed a few times per week with meaty foods like mysis or finely chopped silversides, and ensure iodine levels are stable to support healthy molting.
