Care Summary

The Neon Cleaner Shrimp, or Banded Coral Shrimp, is one of the most recognizable shrimp in the hobby with its bold red, white, and blue banding and long white antennae that it waves to signal fish for cleaning. It's reef-safe and does well in established reefs, but it's territorial toward its own kind and conspecific pairs are the only combination that works, so either keep one or a mated pair. The territorial aggression toward other ornamental shrimp is real, and it will attack and kill Lysmata species like fire shrimp or peppermint shrimp if given the chance, so don't mix them. Feed it meaty foods like mysis, brine shrimp, or small pieces of seafood several times a week to supplement the parasites and detritus it picks from visiting fish.
