Care Summary

The Boxing Shrimp, known in some markets as the Coral Banded Shrimp, is a striking territorial species with bold red and white banding and elongated claws used for defense and food manipulation. Keep only one per tank unless you have a confirmed mated pair, as conspecific aggression is severe and two males in the same system will fight to the death in most cases. It can also intimidate and nip at slow-moving or sleeping fish that stray near its chosen cave, so select tankmates that are active and large enough to avoid being pestered. Feed meaty frozen foods like mysis or silversides directly to its territory two to three times per week, and it will reward you with bold, interactive behavior unlike most invertebrates.
