Care Summary
The Crocea Clam is the smallest and most colorful of the Tridacna clams, prized for its electric mantle patterns and tight, rock-boring anchoring behavior. It needs the highest light levels of any tridacnid, making it best suited for tanks with T5 or high-output LED fixtures, positioned high in the water column near the surface. The challenge is stability, Croceas are more sensitive to parameter swings than larger clams and will close and decline quickly if alkalinity, calcium, or salinity fluctuates. No target feeding is required in a well-lit tank, as they derive nutrition from zooxanthellae, but a stable 1.025 salinity and calcium above 400 ppm are non-negotiable.
