Care Summary

Chaeto (Chaetomorpha linum) is the gold standard refugium algae for reef tanks. It grows rapidly under moderate lighting, outcompeting nuisance algae by absorbing nitrates and phosphates. Harvest regularly by removing roughly a third of the mass weekly to export nutrients. Tumble it with a small powerhead for best growth. Avoid letting it go anaerobic in the center — thin it out if the ball becomes dense. Compatible with all tank inhabitants and will not become a pest.
