Care Summary
Halimeda is a calcifying green macroalgae that stores calcium carbonate in its segmented fronds. It grows slowly but provides excellent structure in the tank. Requires adequate calcium and alkalinity levels (similar to SPS coral requirements) to maintain its rigid segments. Provide moderate to high lighting and medium flow. Generally not eaten by herbivores due to its calcareous nature. When it dies back, segments turn white and sink to the substrate — remove to prevent detritus buildup.
