Citrus Goniopora is a standout color variant of a genus that's already known for visual impact — vivid orange to yellow flower-like polyps that extend continuously during the day make this one of the most animated corals you can keep in a mid-tank position. Mid-tank placement with medium light and gentle, indirect medium flow; Goniopora needs water movement for polyp extension and feeding but collapses and stays retracted in strong direct current. Goniopora has an earned reputation for long-term decline — many specimens look great for a year and then slowly stop extending and waste away; the advanced rating exists because sustained success requires dialed-in water chemistry and consistent feeding, not just basic reef maintenance. Target feed with phytoplankton and fine zooplankton two to three times a week; Goniopora is an active feeder and consistent nutrition is the single most important factor separating the colonies that thrive for years from the ones that slowly decline.
