Porites lobata is a massive-forming lobe coral that builds large, rounded boulders over time — one of the most architecturally significant SPS you can add to a mature system. Bottom placement under high light with medium flow; it needs intensity across its broad surface and benefits from non-laminar flow that reaches its rounded flanks. The intermediate challenge is patience and parameter discipline — Porites lobata grows slowly and is unforgiving of chronic parameter instability, showing stress as incremental bleaching from the edges inward rather than dramatic sudden decline. No direct feeding; focus your effort on maintaining stable NSW-level water chemistry, because that is the only lever that meaningfully controls long-term health and coloration in this species.
