Pink Diamond

Zoanthus sp.

Also known as: Pink Diamonds

SoftBeginner

Care Summary

Pink Diamond is a Zoanthus strain of solid hot pink with a fine, diamond-like sparkle across the face. Where Pink Zipper has lines, Pink Diamond has glitter: a clean, saturated pink that catches the light in tiny points, so colonies shine rather than simply glow. It is a tier 2 strain, and its appeal is purity of colour; in a mixed garden it is often the single brightest pink patch in view, with no ring or mouth colour to break it up.

Care

Place it in the bottom to middle of the tank under medium light with medium flow through the mat. It is easy to keep provided nutrients stay measurable, because zoanthids sulk in ultra-clean water and solid-colour strains show fading quickly when starved. Stable alkalinity supports its moderate growth rate. Once settled and fully open, the sparkle shows best; give it a consistent position and avoid shading it under faster-growing neighbours.

Keeping and spread

Pink Diamond spreads as a mat, adding polyps at a moderate pace around the colony edge. Allow roughly 2 in of space around it, since the mat will use that room and, with moderate aggression, can overgrow and smother slower corals it reaches. To frag, cut through the mat between polyps, transfer the section to a fresh plug, and hold it in similar light and flow until the cut edge heals and growth resumes.
