Predator
Zoanthus sp.
Also known as: Predators
Care Summary
Predator is a Zoanthus strain with a green and purple camouflage-speckled face, a mottled pattern that breaks up the outline of each polyp like light through jungle canopy. It is one of the more naturalistic-looking zoas: no clean rings or solid colours, just shifting patches of green and violet that vary across the colony. A tier 2 strain, it earns its place in a garden by contrast, making the solid and ringed strains around it look even sharper.
Care
Keep Predator low to mid in the tank under medium light, with medium flow through the mat. It is an easy zoanthid when nutrients are measurable; zoanthids sulk in ultra-clean water, so a little nitrate and phosphate in the system suits it better than a stripped tank. Hold alkalinity stable and let the colony settle. Growth is moderate, and the camouflage pattern typically intensifies as the mat matures and polyps crowd together.
Keeping and spread
This strain spreads by mat growth at a moderate pace, extending polyp by polyp across available rock. Give it about 2 in of space so that spread does not immediately threaten slower neighbours, which its moderately aggressive mat can smother once it grows over them. Fragging follows the standard method: cut the mat between polyps, mount the section on a plug or rubble, and keep it in similar conditions while it attaches.
