Care Summary
Symphyllia recta is a large-polyped brain coral with wide, clearly defined valleys and bold coloration — it has a more dramatic look than many of its brain coral relatives. Sandbed or low rockwork placement under moderate light with medium flow; give it plenty of horizontal space since it grows outward as much as up. Alk stability is the non-negotiable — tissue retraction starting at the valley edges is an early warning sign that your chemistry is swinging, and it's slow to recover once damaged. Weekly target feeding with mysis or small meaty foods will reward you with faster growth and deeper pigmentation across the valleys.
