Retiform Brain Coral

Goniastrea retiformis is a neat, geometric brain coral with a distinctive reticular pattern of small, tight corallites — it's one of the cleaner-looking species in the genus. Bottom placement under moderate light with medium flow; it handles a range of lighting conditions but does best with stable, consistent par rather than fluctuating intensity. The slow growth rate means damage is hard to recover from — place it where it won't be bumped by fish or maintenance and where flow won't drop detritus on it. Biweekly target feeding with small meaty foods supports healthier tissue and helps offset the cost of its slow metabolism.
