Safecracker
Zoanthus sp.
Also known as: Safecrackers
Care Summary
Safecracker is a Zoanthus strain combining a deep red face with a blue centre, a classic contrasting pairing that makes each polyp read clearly even in a crowded garden. The red disc carries the visual weight while the cooler blue middle provides the detail that rewards a closer look. It is a Tier 2 hobby name, well established and often recommended as a dependable red zoanthid with a point of difference.
Care
Rated easy to keep, it sits in medium lighting with medium flow in the bottom to middle of the rockwork. Standard zoanthid care applies: measurable nutrients rather than ultra-clean water, in which zoanthids sulk, stable alkalinity, and flow through the mat to keep polyps clean. It settles quickly in a stable tank and its red and blue contrast is most reliable once the colony is fully expanded and undisturbed.
Keeping and spread
Growth is moderate and mat-forming. The colony will spread over adjoining rock and can smother slower neighbours, so provide roughly 2 in of separation or grow it on its own rock. Aggression is moderate, mainly a contest for space. Frag by cutting the mat between polyps and mounting the section to a plug; frags heal well under the same medium light and flow.
