Strawberry Wine
Zoanthus sp.
Also known as: Strawberry Wines
Care Summary
Strawberry Wine is a Zoanthus strain with a wine-red face flecked with pink speckle, a rich, deep red base lifted by lighter pink points across the oral disc. The colour is darker and more saturated than the bright cherry reds, giving colonies a mature, velvety appearance. A Tier 2 hobby name, it is a well-regarded choice for adding depth of red to a zoanthid garden.
Care
This is an easy-care strain for medium lighting and medium flow, positioned in the bottom to middle of the rockwork. Maintain measurable nutrients — zoanthids sulk in ultra-clean water — and stable alkalinity, and keep medium flow passing through the mat to stop detritus settling among the polyps. Once settled, it opens reliably and holds its wine-red tone under consistent lighting.
Keeping and spread
Growth is moderate and mat-forming. The colony spreads steadily over rock and can smother slower neighbours if it reaches them, so leave roughly 2 in of space or contain it on an island rock. Aggression is moderate. To frag, cut cleanly through the mat between polyps and mount the section; allow the frag moderate light and flow while the cut edge heals.
