The Blueside Fairy Wrasse delivers one of the more impressive color contrasts in the fairy wrasse family, with a rich blue posterior half cutting sharply against a warm yellow-orange anterior. Dominant males in peak condition perform stunning courtship flashes that intensify their coloration in real time, which is genuinely one of the more spectacular behaviors you can observe in a reef tank. A harem setup of one dominant male with two or more females in a 75-gallon or larger produces visible hierarchy behavior and keeps the male in breeding condition, which is when it looks best. Lid security matters with all fairy wrasses, but the Blueside is less prone to chronic jumping than some species and settles well in peaceful reef communities.
