Care Summary
The Solar Fairy Wrasse male displays stunning red and purple coloration with a bright yellow rear; it is one of the more vibrant Cirrhilabrus species and holds its color well in captivity. Keep one male with two to three females in 55+ gallons with a secure lid; males display most intensely in the presence of females, and the courtship behavior is one of the most rewarding things to observe in a reef. Feed enriched frozen mysis and brine twice daily; males need consistent nutrition to fuel courtship displays, and underfed fish show noticeably faded coloration within weeks. A secure lid is non-negotiable; Solar Fairy Wrasses are active jumpers and will find any gap in cover, particularly during the first few nights in a new tank before they have established a sleeping routine.
