Care Summary

The Bluespine is one of the more manageable unicornfishes for serious large-tank hobbyists, with a personality that actually calms down and becomes interactive over time. Those electric-blue peduncle spines are genuinely startling when you first see them up close, especially on a mature specimen under actinic lighting. Feed it as much nori as it will eat and supplement with macroalgae from a refugium; a well-fed Bluespine is noticeably more colorful than a thin one. Give it a tank with serious flow and room to move and it will reward you with years of impressive, confident behavior.
