Sohal Tang

Care Summary

The Sohal Tang is one of the most aggressive fish in the reef hobby; it will dominate a tank of any size and attack, injure, and kill other tangs, especially if it was the first tang established. Reserve it for 200+ gallon systems where its aggression can be diluted across a large enough space; even then, carefully consider your full stocking plan before adding one. Feed nori clips and herbivore blends daily; the Sohal is a dedicated herbivore from Red Sea reef crests and needs consistent algae intake to stay focused on grazing rather than aggressing tankmates. Add it last in any multi-fish system; a Sohal added first will claim the entire tank as its territory and make subsequent additions nearly impossible regardless of size.
