Care Summary
The Atlantic Blue Tang is hardier than its Pacific cousin the Blue Hippo and a solid choice for a 100-gallon reef once it clears quarantine. It browses algae constantly throughout the day, which makes it a genuine workhorse for keeping nuisance algae down on the rockwork and glass. Pair it with nori clips and frozen herbivore blends to supplement its grazing; a tang eating mostly prepared food will have better color and immune function than one picking a barren tank. It can be scrappy with other tangs; introduce it with care in multi-tang systems and watch for lateral line aggression, especially if space is tight.
