Care Summary

The Lavender Tang does not photograph well and that is probably the main reason it gets overlooked at the store, which is genuinely a shame. In person under reef lighting it develops a subtle but legitimately beautiful lavender sheen that gets better as the fish matures and settles in. It is one of the hardier surgeonfish species and eats aggressively off the clip from day one in most cases. For the price, you are getting one of the most reliable and underrated grazers in the hobby, and experienced reefers know that.
