Care Summary
The Yellowfin is a surprisingly large tang that gets underestimated because its coloration is subtle compared to flashier surgeonfishes. Under actinic and blue LED lighting those yellow pectoral fins really stand out against the grey-blue body in a way that photographs cannot quite capture. It is a hardy, long-lived fish once established, tolerant of a wider water parameter range than many tangs of similar size. Get it into a 180-gallon minimum and pair it with strong flow and it will likely outlast multiple other fish in your collection.
