Powder Brown Tang

Care Summary

The Powder Brown Tang is often compared unfavorably to the Powder Blue but is actually a hardier, more adaptable fish that handles aquarium conditions better over the long term. House it in 100+ gallons with moderate to strong flow; it is an active swimmer and needs open lanes to cruise comfortably throughout the day without constantly reversing direction. Feed nori clips and herbivore blends daily; like all acanthurid tangs it needs consistent algae in its diet to maintain the white facial mask and overall coloration that makes it attractive. Quarantine it before adding to a display; while less ich-prone than the Powder Blue it is still a tang and susceptible to velvet and ich, especially in the stress of initial acclimation.
