Powder Blue Tang

Care Summary

The Powder Blue Tang is one of the most visually stunning tangs in the hobby but is a known ich magnet; quarantine for 6+ weeks before introducing it to any display system. It needs 100+ gallons with strong flow; Powder Blues come from high-energy Indian Ocean reef zones and will develop HLLE and chronic stress in under-sized or under-filtered tanks. Feed nori clips and herbivore blends daily to keep it well-nourished; a fat Powder Blue with a full belly is dramatically more disease-resistant than one scraping an algae-poor tank. Add it last or simultaneously with other tangs; Powder Blues are not the most aggressive tang species but they will be bullied mercilessly by established Zebrasoma or Acanthurus tangs if added late.
