Care Summary

The Six Line Wrasse is one of the most commonly recommended beginner wrasses but is widely underestimated for its aggression; in smaller tanks it becomes a genuine bully that targets new fish introductions. House it in 55+ gallons and add it last; if it is already established in a tank it will relentlessly attack any new wrasse or similarly sized fish added afterward. On the positive side it actively eats flatworms, small bristle worms, and amphipods, making it a functional pest controller that earns its place in the tank beyond just coloration. Feed frozen mysis and meaty foods twice daily; it eats aggressively and is easy to keep fed, but managing its personality in a community system is the real challenge with this species.
